All survived - family was able to leave Germany in 1938
Before 1938 it was clear that the Schiff family knew they needed to leave Germany. It took quite a while to get visas for their whole family which arrived just before Kristallnacht. The day after Kristallnacht Charlotte's father was arrested by the Gestapo and her mother got him released by showing them that they had the visas to leave. On November 17, 1938, they left Frankfurt and made their way to Bremerhaven to leave on the ship to the United States. With Charlotte's parents and siblings were her father's twin brother and his wife and child.
