In April of 1944, a ghetto was formed in the city central and all Jews were taken to the ghetto.  They spent two weeks in this ghetto and then they were transported to another ghetto in a nearby city for another two weeks.  At this time, May 1, 1944, they were deported to Auschwitz where they stayed for three months and then sent to Birkenau before ending up in Landsberg where they were liberated by the Americans.
